It is all about the journey

"Life is a journey, not a destination."
"We don't meet people on accident, they are meant to cross our path for a reason."

The two quotes above have been very important to me during this last semester of my college career.  Taking an extra semester to finish up has been an adventure for sure. Most of the people that I spent time with during college graduated in May including my two of my closest friends (roomies). During this final semester I have come to grow closer to my hometown, Lenoir, and have been reminded that having connections is powerful.  Life is a journey, everything that we do impacts our lives in one way or another.  We may not be aware of how it is going to impact us, but God has a plan.  He may lead us down paths that are dead ends or have smaller paths that easier to be overseen for us to travel.  He may have us turn around and walk the same path twice collecting other experiences in order to fulfill his plan for us. I am someone that likes to know the plan, I like to know all the details of what is happening and like to be in the know.  But with my life journey, I have had to learn to be more willing to let go and just walk the path that is being set before me. There is no destination for our lives, but rather experiences to create a journey.

And as for meeting people, this quote has been very meaningful for me lately.  While talking to a role model of mine the other day, I was reminded that not only do people impact my life, but I also do the same to their lives.  Sometimes the impact on our lives, or what we do to impact other's lives is not clear to the eye.  It may be something so little that is unclear now and will stand out strong later.  Or it may be something that we will never understand.  Having the reminder that people do not cross our paths on accident but always with a purpose, is very enlightening to me.

As children of God, we have many milestones in our lives.  Some of them are strictly in the church, such as baptism, first communion and confirmation.  Others are turning a double digit, getting a drivers license, graduating high school and many that I have left unnamed.  Well in less than 40 days, a milestone that I have been working on will happen.  I am going to be a graduate!  I am going to be an alumni!

My final semester is in action and coming to a soon finish, but much different that I would have thought it would be.  Last year, I learned that I would have a extra semester to finish, making me a December grad at 4.5 years.  I am not ashamed by it all.  I changed majors and am now doing something I love, so no shame there.  But the weird part is not having as many friends on campus, familiar faces around and my best friends on campus.  This semester I am living at home, and the most common question asked is, where are your roomies if you live at home.  Well as blessed as I am to have wonderful friends that I called roomies, I am also blessed to have best friends that love to follow their dreams.  Even though that means not being in the country, I am so happy that they are following their passion and living their dreams.  I to will soon get to live my dream and follow my passion.

The realization that 'big girl world' is coming closer and closer happened the other day.  While I do not know exactly what I will be doing after I graduate, I know that I have potential to do lots. For I remind myself often, that God has a plan.  I do not know what it is, but I know that I should continue doing a variety of things to fulfill my passion.

Dear God,
Remind all of us that you have a plan.  One that we are likely unaware of, but one that you have full control over.  You open our lives to cross paths with people for a reason, not on accident.  Please watch over all those that travel, are in unfamiliar places, other countries, or struggle with their living situation.  I lift up prayers of the silent ones from hearts, ones that may never be voiced, that you answer their prayers just as others are answered. You created us to be in your image, help us see what you have planned for us and to give our lives to you.  In your holy name Jesus, I pray..Amen.

Be strong and of good Courage,
do not be afraid,
nor be dismayed,
for the Lord your God
is with you wherever
you go.
